booya birdies

i'm trying desperately to get over my monotone gray overload obsession of the last 2 years.
it's hard, but i'm trying.
color scares me.
it's so....
final.
neutrals usually stay "in" for a while, but patterns and colors seem to go in and out with the seasons.
i'm such a committment phobe.

i'm working on it.

i bought a frame at the goodwill for $10.99.
i think they kind of ripped me off, but i'm the sucker that bought it anyway.
i thought it had good bones (aside from the hideous cottage scene that was framed and immediately went into the trash) and i might find a place for it.
once i threw away the awful picture i kind of liked just the open glass look.
drew did too.
then i saw this and this (both wonderful blogs btw) and.....

booya.

nothing says awesome like mod podge birds hanging in my kitchen.

i love 'em.

the birds were $1.00 for a 5 pack at michael's.
i bought them a month ago and didn't know what to do with them.
the fabric was part of a 10 pack sampler i got from hancock to make christmas gifts with and the ribbon was just lying around.

pretty good deal.

i made this in the middle of a snowy day.
i seriously hate the snow.

so i guess this is me hoping for a bright and cheery spring!

I am totally stealing this idea! LOVE IT!!!!
Oh btw I too have a grey/ charcoal fetish. (Until Ricos room that is) Hard to break out of for sure. Although Red goes so nicely with charcoal.

Adorable! I'm helping a friend to design a nursery with a bird / owl / tree theme, and I was thinking of doing something similar, but I hadn't thought of the wire and ribbon. I think I'm going to steal that if you don't mind! Thanks for sharing!

i also read your family's story and was touched by it. we just had a friend go through the same thing, and we watched as God restored their marriage as well. It was sad to see them go through what they did, but amazing to see them over a year later...also with a new baby that they consider the same thing as your Caleb. Thank you for sharing your heart! it's always encouraging to hear what God is doing in other believers!
